This is another one of my creations from the Writing Workshop. I think it's about ready, but it probably needs a little tweaking before it's ready for the EG. Please help!
Thank you!

Great! I'm delighted to see this in PR. Firstly it's great that the writting workshop is actually functioning and also that someone who's been a member of the community for a while is now contributing to the guide.
We need new authors.
Oh and the entries fantastic as well, but I mentioned that in WW.
I did catch one set of double quotes though..

Thanks for the glowing reviews, Z!
...and I fixed the double-quote thing as well as a typo.
But what's better for the EG? 'eight of the thirteen' or '8 of the 13'?

Personally I'd go for 'eight of the thirteen', but that's just me. I am you see, a great believer in contributors to the EG not doing the *whole* of the Sub-Ed's job for them. So I would go with which ever *you* feel the most comfortable with. If it's wrong, then whoopy-do! a Sub-Ed will finally have to do a bit of work around here
No, what I really stopped by to say was: how about a mention somewhere in there that 'Cuyahoga' was the title of an REM song from their 1980s album (God, I'm showing my age ) 'Life's Rich Pageant'?
Now given that most British people couldn't point to Ohio on a map, let alone to the river. I reckon that the only way that they've heard that name before was via that song. Certainly that's the case for me, or maybe I'm just showing my age once again
Anyways, including it somehow gives a nice opportinity to link this entry to others in the Guide, both now and in the future.
Oh and finally, nice entry

Really? It was an REM song? You don't happen to have the lyrics to that anywhere, do you?
I remember the whole area being mentioned in "My City Was Gone" by The Pretenders, but that was more about urban sprawl and the loss of community than anything else. One of my favorite songs, by the way!
And eight of thirteen it is, I guess!

This link should give you the lyrics without too many popups -> http://www.reallyrics.com/lyrics/R003000010006.asp
It's the usual REM theme of rememberance of things lost and damaged. It references fire by describing the river as red.
If you want to listen to it yourself, you could try your local record store. Or more likely that P2P company beginning with K

(it's eight of 13... I promise. They spell 'em out fully from one - ten, and then write 'em out after that. I'm not sure why.)
As I mentioned earlier, I think this is a lovely entry and deserves a spot of honor in the Ohio section of the guide.

OK- fixed that, and added a small paragraph under Cultural Activities on recent music about the Cuyahoga. I'm sure there are plenty of folk songs, but I can't seem to find resources on them anywhere!

I think this is an excellent entry that is very well written. I have only two points:
'Geologic Setting' should be 'Geological Setting' I believe.
And, the sentence: "Knolls of sand and gravel formed by glacial meltwater called kames and ridges of glacial till called moraines also dot the landscape" seems to be a little hard to understand. Do you think it could be reworded slightly (or is it just me?)?
Congratulations, again; this should have no trouble in reaching EG status successfully.

That was pretty awkward now that you mention it- I reworded it, and fixed the section title!
Keep the comments coming, everyone!

Hi Scandrea,
Wow - what a tour de force - I expected an article just on the river itself, and instead I got a complete perspective of the river from its early days to the role of the river in the development of Akron and Cleveland - just excellent. This is really well-written, really informative and an excellent entry.
I lived in Cleveland for a few months in 1989, so this brings back a lot of memories. Thanks a lot!

Glad you liked it!
What I wanted to do with this article was to encompass all aspects of the Cuyahoga River- from geology (which I know inside and out) to biology to the human aspect. Plus, I thought it was important to detail the anthropogenic impact because of all the pollution, and recent recovery of the river. I dug this out of the Flea Market, and that was the focus of the article there!
Thanks again! Any suggestions?
