We're charged three times:

- a flat fee for the year, which includes dumpable rubbish collection (black bin) once a week if we need it and a recyclable (green) collection once every two weeks.

- a fee per black bin lift
- a price per kilogram on the black bin rubbish

Since there is no extra charge for recyclable rubbish, it really encourages us to put as much as possible in the green bin. As a result, we only put our black bin out about every three or four weeks.

THe green bin takes paper, cardboard, clean plastic and glass.

In addition, we can deliver paint, hazardous chemicals, electrical goods and metal to the local recycling centre free of charge, if we have a car.

Garden waste is easily compostable in a "dalek" composter, so we don't end up dumping much.

These last two apply only to the rubbish for dumping. The green bin can be put out every two weeks and
