Woking 1 Southampton XI 0 Game played Tues 03/08/06
As this was the nearest game to me pre-season decided to go along. The Saints team was a very young mainly Youth team players. Although Dexter Blackstock, Martin Crainie, and Kenwynne Jones did play a part.
Saints started well and had Woking under a lot of pressure, but could not score, then in about the 18th minute Woking Scored, against the run of play. Saints continued to play well in the first half. In the Second half Woking applied pressure, and nearly scored again, with the ball coming off the post. The game remained at 1-0. Although late in the game Saints were again pushing for a goal it never came.
If anyone ever goes to Woking Football club. Do not follow their directions for parking or for the ground. You can park much closer by parking in the car park near the Swimming pool, and its a short walk to the ground. From Heathland car park (The one recommended) it is a long walk to the ground, and rather worrying to walk back through the park at nearly 10:00 at night!
Today Saints play Derby, KO at 4:00 on Sky Sports

Game played 06/08/06
Derby 1 Saints 0 Half time
Derby 2 Saints 2 Fulltime
Saints went in at half time needing to score, and came out to score two. However, in the 90th Minute Derby scored.
At least we did not lose the first game of the season, for a change
Scores for Saints: Bale, Wright-Phillps
Game played Wed 9/08/06
Saints 2 Coventry 0
Saints played well the whole game and Coventry tried their best, the two goals Saints scored were from Set pieces, Bale from a Free Kick, Riazic (Spelling?) from a Penalty.
Next Game 12/08/06 Saints V West Bromwich Albion. WBA are favourites to go up this season, a win here would be good.
Ponts so far 4, league postition: 5th

Sorry nothing for a while, what with Ill health, and moving I've had no time to 'update'.
Last game played Sat 06/01/07 FA Cup third round Torquay V Saints
Torquay 0 Saints 2.
Saints are at present 4th in the league, with the transfer window now open they are hoping to keep hold of Gareth Bale. Man Utd, Arsenal, and a few other clubs would like him, so time will tell.

In the FA cup Manchester city won their replay, so Saints face them in the next round, (Away from home)
Last game played by Saints was V QPR
QPR 0 Saints 2.
Saints are 5th in the League. On the transfer side of things I've not heard about any players in. Gareth Bale was invited to sign an extension to his contract. This is still 'on the table'. With George Burley insisting Bale is not leaving yet. It will all depend on the talks to be held in the Summer. So watch this space!

Since the last entry here Michael Wilde has resigned as Chairman. Leon Crouch taking over. On the team side Saints are now down to 8th in the league
Birminham are on 70 points
Derby are on 70 points.
These two are in the automatic promotion places
Then 3rd Sunderland on 67 points
4th Preston on 65 points
5th Wolves on 65 points
6th West Brom on 63 points
These are all in the 'play off' spots
Then 7th Cardiff on 63 points
8th Southampton on 60 points.
So I do not think we will get even to the play off this season. Next game is V Colchester at St Mary's

Saints lost to Colchester. However the next game against Wolves (Away) was a massive 6 - 0 win for Saints. The biggest away win for them for 30 years or so. This was not enough to take Saints into the 'play off' places. But at least we can hope.
Next game April 7th V Luton at Luton. As I have tickets to this game I'm going. Will try to give some impression of the game next time I come here!

Luton 0 Saints 2 (7/04/07)
Both goals scored in the first half, Saints had two goals against, but both ruled 'offside'. We sat in Block F Row 0 Seats 19 and 20. We got there nice and early, and enjoyed our day out. As I knew Luton well directed a lot of Saints fans to Kenilworth Road.
Next game played by Saints 10/04/07 V Sunderland.
Sunderland won 2 1 so Saints go down to 8th. The next game to be played will be V Birmingham, at St Andrew's!

Saints lost to Birmingham, but the last game played was 28/4/07. Where Saints beat Norwich 1 0. Thus getting back to the play off zone, last game of the season v Southend, at St Mary's . Saints have 72 points, as do Stoke. Stoke have 35 goals for, and 16 against at home, and 26 For and 24 against away. Saints 35 for and 19 against at home, 41 for and 33 against away. So could be close.
Also during the week Alan Ball, former player and Manager for Saints died of a heart attack at the age of 61. He will be missed

Since my last posting Saints got to the Play offs where after penalties they lost to Derby. Derby went on to beat WBA in the Final, at Wembley. Thus Derby get promoted. Menwhile Garth Bale leaves Saints for Spurs, John Gorman comes back. I have heard no news regarding the 'Take over'. Apart from that there is very little news opn the Saints Front. Anything to report, I will try to get back on here, meanwhile have a nice summer.

Since my last report, the football season has arrived.
1st game at Home was to lose 1-4 to Crystal Palace.
Next Game Aug 13th was Carling Cup 1st round. Against Peterborough
Saints lost this by 2 goals to 1. I attended this match.
On the Take over front, there is no News, so it will not happen I think.
So al in all a good start to the Season. Let's hope better to come!!!!

Gosh not been on here for ages, so sorry!
Since my last update we have lost another Chairman, lost to Peterborough (I was there) in the Carling Cup, lost to Barnsley, and in general lost to a few more. Let in more goals than anyone else in the League. Rumours abound that G Burley is to leave (Denied by him). The 'Takeover' never happened. So it's not a good time to Support the Saints.
Hopefully now my computer is fixed I'll be on here again more often!

Last game played by Saints was v Burnley which Saints won 3 2. Mid Week Saints lost to Bristol City.
On the 'Takeover' front, a bid has been put in by a Hedge company (SISU) this is being 'fronted' by Ray Ranson a former player for Manchester City, who has built up a fortune of his own. Ray Ranson has stated he does not want to be chairman of the club, as the present structure is adequate. The bid is being put to the board. However, there are rumors going round that should the bid fail, Saints will have to sell more players to stay afloat.
Time will tell.

Since my last piece Saints drew, against Charlton Then lost 5 0 against sheffield Wednesday. I have heard no more news on the takeover front. It would seem that the company trying to take over may not have the best interest of the club at heart. However, should the take over fail, Saints will probably have to sell again in the new year to remain solvent.
Life as a Saints supporter is not much fun now!

Since my last posting, I have been to a game. I went to Ipswich V Saints.
The score there was 2 0 to Ipswich
The last game played by Saints was today, where Saints played Leicester at Leicester. The score being 2 1 to Saints.
On the 'takeover bid' there is no further news. Although the Board issued a warning that Saints need some investment, and as SISU is the only one keen to do this, I assume if the 'takeover' does not go ahead then we may either end up in administration, or having to sell yet more players to stay viable.
Key: Complain about this post
