Hi All
An Edited Guide Entry about John 'Babbacombe' Lee might be worthwhile.
For those who don't know the story, here's a link :

Lee was found guilty of a grisly murder (one with a compelling story in its own right), but it was the failure of the attempt to hang him that cemented the legend. After the trapdoor failed to operate a third time, the execution was suspended in confusion, and the sentence was commuted. Thus Lee became "The Man They Could Not Hang".
I was considering having a go at writing this, with an intention of it being EG-fit. The trouble is, I do tend to get a bit rhetorical when I try this kind of thing. Then it occurred to me that it could make a good collaboration with an established EG-contributor, one with an aptitude for the straight and narrow. Who knows? Maybe we could even learn something from each other!
So - any takers? Someone with a Devon connection might be particularly interested, but that's in no way a prerequisite. Or a Fairport Convention fan, perhaps?

Jodan : I quite agree. You're far too suggestible.
So, Trout...are you up for it? I can think of no-one straighter or narrower, so help me God. Your credentials are immaculate, but this will be no slapdash shag-fest.
In other words, if you're game, I am, but there'll be extra time.
