Can you book me as a definite maybe......Oh make that a definite, wherever it is. As i come from Kew, it's a change at Clapham Junction, so it doesn't really matter which side of Croydon it is.... unless it is New Addington... I'm NOT that brave. Had a gig there once, and walked to it as I'd got the wrong smiley - bus, to the complete horror of the other Croydon-based Band members.
Keep me posted

New Addington's no where near as bad as its made out to be..not at all..I've lived there for about 16 years with no trouble at all...its pretty quiet here actually!

Anyway it'd be central croydon , just got to fix a date (either the 21st or 28th) and find a pub smiley - ok

smiley - sorry There I go, upsetting people even before I've got there. smiley - wah

I only know The Gun, (South Croydon) which is a dive, or the Wetherspoon near the Wimpy, so can't really help. Pals was good, but gets very LOUD and posey. Maybe somewhere near the Whitgift?

I'll ask around.

One of the places I had in mind was 'the hogshead' on the high street. It has a nice upstairs bit that can be booked for 'private functions' and does lovely food though the drinks are a bit pricey. Kaz uses it for her pagan moots so can vouch for it too.

The Gun has been decorated, its far too clean and respectable now!

When I go to Kew, I always go to Victoria and then take the District line. It seems the easiest for me from Croydon.

There is a real ale pub in Surrey Street, the dog and bull, it is the unofficial headquarters for the Croydon and Sutton branch of the Real Ale Society. They have an upstairs room, which sometimes hold poetry evenings! Maybe they would be good as well.

The hogshead is great and provides free food is you have enough people, but the upstairs doesn't have a door and it can get a bit noisy. Anyway I will be checking out the dog and bull, as I am looking for a 2nd moot venue, so I can let you know.

Due to the Usual use of Penderel's Oak, I could suggest The Express Tavern, Kew. It is on the Waterloo line, and easily accessable from Clapham Junction. You'll feel at home, as the Landlord is a Grumpy old Scotsman, but he won't charge for the backroom. Excellent Bass and Young's ordinary, as well as quality bottled wine by the glass. It also has a fair sized Beer Garden. Just don't tread on the grass.
