Although there is a Guide Entry with exactly the same title as this, it does not cover the ground as stated in the title; i.e. it does not associate the appearance of comets with doom-laden consequences.

If there's an edited guide entry with /exactly/ the same title, I suggest you either change the title, or try and differentiate from the original entry significantly.

The other mentioned entry is rather an old one and could well be merged with this one as an update I reckon. Any thoughts from the Scouts and PR regulars about that?

If you have a read through the <./>updateforum</.>, it outlines various ways to go about adding to an existing EG entry or updating one.

The original author of the other entry hasn't been around for many a year so it is unlikely that you would get a response, but it is still considered the 'done thing' to leave them a message on their personal space mentioning that you are interested in adding to the existing entry.

Then choose the option from the update forum that seems most appropriate, and follow the directions

Decided to include a bit more information in this; in particular, explanation of what comets are.

Also need to put in more detail about each catastrophic event, and write the whole thing in 'less bullet-pointed' style.

Hence I may well pull this from PR for a while.

Just to let you know that I have 'pulled this' from PR. I have combined it with an earlier entry (A354458)and will re-submit it later. I have left a message on the original author's webspace, but he hasn't been around for about 4 years.

The quotes from literature, are they in the BLOCKQUOTE html? It brings them together nicely.

A few other quotes and so forth may be better italicised, I'm not sure I'm not an Editor, that's something they could pick up on.

A minor point - some of your paragraphs need tags

I've now done PGHF'S suggested modifications, incl. the blockquotes. Haven't changed 'Man's' to 'Human's' though because it looks and sounds clumsy. Also, I thought that 'Man's' with a capital 'M'' was generally taken to include women anyway? Anyway, I'll consider to ponder on this to see if there's a better way of expressing it.

Still need to work onthe paras.

P.S. I can't unsderstand from 'whateveritwas Update' how to get a Chief Reviewer to look at this article.

This looks more like a replacement rather than an update anyway, so by going through peer review it will ba allocated to a sub once it is picked.

Yes it is a replacement, but it does also totally subsume the previous article. I'll wait for it to get through PR then.
