A Conversation for Pubs
Getting served at bars.

One of the greatest faux-pas punters in pubs can commit is the waving of money at the bar staff, or if said money is in coin form, tapping on the bar. Such actions tend to cause the barperson to regard the waver as a bit of an arrogant p***k, and will therefore delay serving them for as long as is humanly possible.
The scientifically tested method for obtaining service (As compiled by Guiness in a survey of staff working in their pubs) is to lean slightly over the bar, preferably near a till, and really look like you need a drink. If you are of the same gender as the staff, standing next to an attractive member of the opposite sex can also increase your chances, since the bar staff will gravitate towards them, leaving you ideally placed to grab their attention when finished.
