Vinyl Cobwebs

"Vinyl Cobwebs" is an amateur radio program broadcast weekly over the Internet, focusing primarily on obscure "oldies" music.
"Oldies" music is generally defined as rock 'n roll and blues music from the 1950's and 60's. Vinyl Cobwebs devotes it's weekly hour or so to broadacsting those oldies that for one reason or another never made it into Billboard magazine's top 100, or were only hits in regional or local markets, or are just plain fun.
The name "Vinyl Cobwebs" is a bit obscure, but seems to reflect the fact that the majority of the music on the program comes from vinyl 45 RPM records (aka "platters") and have never gotten much airtime, indicating they've been sitting in a box somewhere while spiders have been makng their homes amongst them as the years have gone by, and also to the fact that they are located on the World Wide Web.
The hosts of Vinyl Cobwebs are two slightly deranged natives of Salt Lake City, Utah, USA who go by the unlikely aliases of Donovan and Premium Deluxe. Both of these eccentric but basically fun-loving gentlemen have worked at several Salt Lake area radio stations trying to get airtime for their massive collection of obscure records. Eventually, due to constant collision of craniums between the two of them and the management of said radio stations, they decided to start up the Vinyl Cobwebs program via the internet, where they could dictate their own playlists, what they could say, and basically be in charge.
The program is made available on the Vinyl Cobwebs website roughly every Sunday night at 11:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. The format is largely freeform and eclectic ranging from old time doo-wop, obscure song parodies, and occasionally the downright strange. (Case in point: the song "Riddle Me This" performed by Frank Gorshin in the persona of the Batman villian "The Riddler.") Occasionally, Donovan and Premium Deluxe do theme shows depending on whatever strikes their fancy at the time.
At this time, they do not have a complete on-line archive of all the episodes of the program, but the two most recent programs can always be found on their website:www.vinylcobwebs.freeservers.com
