The gh seems sort of extraneous to me. And plou doesn't work by itself.

Oh, well. Just how I was brought up. I tend to look at general spelling, not our little differences, grammar, and the GuideML tags. I have no quams about using different words to avoid potential English/American english foul-ups. You do know what I mean when I say plow, color, favorite?
The color of my favorite plow is red.
The colour of my favourite plough is red.
Same sentence. Same meaning. Different side of an ocean.
If necessary, I am prepared to avoid the whole ou thing altogether.

Doesn't matter. I know what you're talking about when you say it. It's pronounced the same way in context, isn't it? I will avoid every letter in the English language if need be. I'll just write *and* edit in Arabic. Or maybe Japanese. Or the little wing-dings.
