Glad to see that the Language Thing is being revived. I might be able to help with the French Department - what does being Head of Department involve exactly?
I have a degree in French, have lived in France for extended periods, and speak it pretty fluently, although realised on a recent visit to France that my vocab is a bit rusty!

Well, as Head of Department you basically greet new members and tell them where everything is. You have to remind people of translating their posts and help with language problems... a not too difficult job, I think.

Yeah, OK - I could give it a try.
Would I get notified about new members?

Well, you just subscribe to the register thread and then you see whether someone new comes. It's not that hard.
And: great that you try, thanks!
