h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

The first teaser trailer for the h2g2 movie was shown at Comicon this weekend.

I've been waiting a couple of weeks to talk about it. I saw it on a visit to the studios, but we were sworn to secrecy until it was shown at Comicon. We were rather excited, I can tell you.

I can't get the link to work...

I couldn't get the file to open on my Mac and I had to download software on my PC. Interesting, though. I thought the image looked rather like a Pac Man.

You have to install DivX before you can view it:

I downloaded the Divx and tried to play it on the Mac. Got an interesting effect (but not the trailer). It gave me the playbar - the gadget with the stop/start and volume buttons, together with 'MAZINGLY AMAZING ok' from an earlier conversation in this thread with a line top and bottom. Interesting, eh? So, I'd say, it's probably not Mac compatible.

Yup. The trailer has been taken down - perhaps because of incompatibility issues. Dang it.

I first thought that the logo was the little round green tongue-sticking-out logo that was on the cover of some versions of the book, but a closer inspection suggests that it's of a bird's head, maybe a crane or something with a long pointy beak. Could this be the same bird like version of the guide that I recall described in 'Mostly Harmless'?

Look again - it's a hand, with its (three) fingers clenched and the thumb outstretched.

Nope. Link to the real-player version does not work. I clicked on 'the website' button and got the .avi, but I can't read it on the mac. I think that you can get an AVI reader free for the Mac - look for the Isis player. (I'd do this now, but I'm on the work computer - they frown on any software downloads by employees, and with good reason.)

It's very simple really.

After much swearing and cursing, I got DivX and the .avi trailer loaded. Frankly, it was a waste of time.

In which case I'll wait til I see the teaser or proper trailers whenever they appear at the flicks.
