Thought it had been awhile since I had written one of those "local flavor" entries -- here's one I had been keeping in the back of my head for awhile.

Perhaps you could spell out WA as Wisconsin or whatever it is, rather than leaving it as an abbreviation. We're not all familiar with the American abbreviations.

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

Shame on you Mikey - a Scout and Sub-ed - for using American spelling all the way through the entry - 'neighborhood', 'center' smiley - nahnah Where it's used as the centre's name it's ok, but when saying 'the center', it should be 'the centre'.

And have you thought of using the TITLE tag in your links to make the names of them a little more interesting in the information box?

sigh, I hate British/American spelling differences. I'm just not capable of keeping them all in my head -- I'm a horrendous enough speller to begin with. There's a reason I do my subbing from a computer that has a British English spell-check enabled on Word.... smiley - winkeye

But, I think I've fixed all the ones you pointed out, plus added titles to the links. Better now? Any other Americanisms I've still missed?

I agree changing the WA to Washington only to ease in worldwide reading. Also, where you say I-405 it might be better to say Interstate 405 for much the same reasons...

But this sounds like a really cool place. So many malls only provide chain stores that it's nice to see someplace with used books and other independents - the rent must be pretty cheap to be able to do that.

Nice entry!

Ok, all instances of WA have been changed to Washington, I believe, and have added in the interstate bit.

I think they're able to make the independent stores feasible by

1) offering a much wider variety in store sizes than the average mall -- there are some not much bigger than a good sized walk-in closet.

2) drawing in the kind of crowd with their music programs that tend to be attracted to independent stores over chains

Stopped by Crossroads this weekend, and discovered that they have put in free wireless access in the dining room, so I have added that in.

One more thing - just my smiley - 2cents, but I think the first list of bullet points looks a little weird with commas at the end of each line and the last one beginning with an 'and' and ending with a full stop - you've been a sub for far longer than I was, so I bow to your greater experience, but aesthetically speaking, it was something that I thought looked a little odd...

Hmmm.... I actually add in the punctuation when I'm subbing an entry that has a list like that, but that may just be my personal preference. How about we just leave that call to whatever sub gets this, should the entry be picked?

Oh, how disappointed I am that in all my trips to Redmond my friend there never took me to this place, and it sounds like something he would have been really enthusiastic about. Since he moved back home last month it'll be several years before I get another chance to go.

Your entry looks great! I only had one quibble with punctuation: in the 'Other Services' section it seems awkward that you've used semicolans instead of commas between items. I'm not sure what the punctuation rule would be, but it looks a little odd.

This is definitely something I'll put on my agenda next time I'm in Seattle smiley - ok.

Actually, semi-colons are the appropriate punctuation to use when you're dealing with a list in which many of the items are long phrases. It's especially key when any of the phrases in the list include commas themselves, such as:

I enjoy many musical groups from my parents' eras, including Peter, Paul, and Mary; the Beatles; and the Supremes.

In this case, the phrases are longish but don't include commas, so I wouldn't be irked if any sub-ed who received this one chose to alter the punctuation.

I was there again today, actually, and noticed some additional details about the handicapped accessability of the place, so I've added some info to the entry.
