EMR, this is a great Entry... well done. And I think it's great that you've been able to acknowledge this at a comparatively young age.
Too many people (myself included... 28 years old and only just properly acknowledging certain tendancies, some of which have been left too late to do anything about) wait far too long to stand up and say "this is who I am. Deal with it!"

Echo,
This is a very brave entry for one so young, I congratulate you.
Bless the Internet, it has permitted communication about so very many topics -- even things that used to be considered taboo or shameful, among so very many people -- even people we wouldn't likely meet if we lived ten lifetimes and had unlimited frequent flier miles. With so many people on the planet, even a one in one million human condition has several websites.
I clicked on your entry because I was feeling overwhelmed by information flow and my inability to keep up with it all. Not just the information I sought, but also the informtion that I hadn't digested in the form of emails, newspapers, regular mail, various postings. Information that I ought to keep up with such as phone calls, work-related matters, wedding announcements, birthday party invitations, memorial service announceents, and bank statements. I kept reading because of your forthright remarks.
There may be another reason beside the ones you state, that sex education generally doesn't cover submission/dominance ... the unstated concern about possibly expoiting a younger person. This concern should be stated - and it should be stated loudly and often. Decent persons would never consder exploiting a younger person. However, manipulative and cruel persons set out to exploit the young and the vulnerable.
Regardless of what you do or where you go, regardless of your age, please, please follow sensible guidelines such as letting someone know where you are going, what you are doing (be brave!), when you expect to be back, and what to do if you are not back at that time. And make sure the person you are with knows someone will miss you, that your roommates, parents, or friends expect you home at a specific hour. This works for dinner/coffee/movie dates, too.

Thanks so much for your comments, Happy_Nerd. They're much appreciated. And don't worry - I'm always very careful.

A very good article on a very interesting subject.
But I must say you are quite lucky to know at a very young age what your fantasies are about, there are some who only at 40+ discover or find a name for what they have dreamt about for 20odd years or so.
Hopefully you will always have some friends around with whom you can really talk about it.
And to the question, why there are so few places where young people can about BDSM - I know that there are some German sites especially for young people because most of the sites in BDSM area do not allow young people (under 18) on their sites, due to the laws.

Hooray for the Germans - and it's a pity I only speak English...
I did find one English-speaking site that answered the question "What is BDSM?" factually and appropriately. Made my day, it did.

The problem is, that there are a lot of BDSM sites in Germany, but not all are good. I was lucky to "land" on a site with really nice people (I know some of them in real by now) who are really nice to newcomers, don't mind if you change your mind (from being only submissive to "I don't know" to "I think I might be dominant" to "I am definetely a switcher" to I think I am more Vanilla than anything else....
they are simply intelligent and experienced enough to know that life is not static, and some things can be very confusing...
Key: Complain about this post
