PP: Any Proposed Rule Changes?
Mu Beta Started conversation May 31, 2008
I think the rules to this game are evolving nicely - the loan system, in particular, seems to work very well, and the 'one defender' rule has made a much better contest both before and during the season. The Handicap Cup was a bit of an afterthought, but it gave those further down the table something to think about after their season was effectively over.
I'm still open to suggestions, though. Anyone got any strong views about the direction they'd like to see Phantasy Phootball taking next season?

What about pre-empting FIFA and implementing our own 6+5 rule? Might be interesting.

This is a bit radical, but how about pitching us against each other like you do in the cups, but throughout the season in predetermined rounds. 3 Points for a Win, 1 for a draw etc.
That way our aggregate points really count for nothing very much: it's sustained weekly performance that counts. I think the table would be a lot tighter and even more exciting (if possible) than this year's.
Give it some thought Mr B. But if it's extra work don't bother.

I think if we have 16 contestants again next year, then a 6-5 rule will be almost impossible to enforce, and there would be a lot of talent on the sidelines, which would be a shame.
I do like MT's league idea, but it would be extra work, and come the end of the season you very likely have the silly situation of the team which has scored most points not actually winning. This is true in the rugby Premiership and Gloucester, particularly, are kicking up a whole load of fuss about it.

Gloucester can go ride a bike.
That's like Charlton bleating that they actually didn't get relugated in 2007 because they scored five more goals than Man City who should have gone down instead.

I don't think that anyone living in Australia has the authority to speak on matters of Rugby Union.

Having witnessed some of Gloucester's squad in action in the pub, I very much doubt whether some of them are capable of riding a bike.

Is that where you've been for the last 29 minutes? I'm impressed.
