*clears throat*
List of my current activities for you:
work 4-6 Tuesday through Friday
plough through piles of books for my dissertation next year
do my Ace/Archangel thing
I'm gonna be writing two columns for the Post soon
And that's just a few of the things that come up. It's harder and harder to find time for fanfic
And when school starts again it's gonna be even harder...

What's the dissertation going to be on?

Well... I'm not 100% decided yet, but I have two main choices.
What I would really love to do is a study of Shakespeare's treatment of female characters- I've just been in Stratford, and it really cemented this idea that had been floating around my head for a while. I was thinking I would do three from:
The Taming of the Shrew
Romeo and Juliet
Twelfth Night
As You Like It
and Macbeth
I just don't know which ones.
The second choice is the study of characters who are outsiders. I thought I would base it around the differences in the way this is treated in a short story, a novella and a novel (the three being Franz Kafka's "Metamorphosis", Albert Camus' "The Outsider" and Evelyn Waugh's "Brideshead Revisited").
I'll have to talk to my teacher about it though.

Yikes, I'm sorry I asked, especially as the only book out of that lot I have read is MacBeth.

If I'm gonna study English, then I kinda have to read a lot. Plus I'm fast- I got through all 4 Harry Potter books in 4 days. Which isn't all that impressive, but I was on holiday for crying out loud
Studying Macbeth was pretty much mandatory anyway- it's setting's right on my doorstep. Which is nice, but kinda bizarre...

Technically yes, but in the same way that the Hobbit's meant to be a kid's book. I'm not saying it's quite up to the standard of Tolkein, but I would certainly class them along with Discworld in terms of quality.
They're great fun and really well written. Plus, I'm really easy to hook (see Buffy, Angel, Friends, Discworld...) so I love things like that.
You should give them a go, there's no shame- every coffee house I went into on holiday had at the very least 1 20ish year old reading one of the books Even my Mum and Grandmother are hooked!

*proceeds to sing #1 Crush... well, the first few bits*
I would die for you
I would die for you
I've been dying just to feel you by my side
To know that you're mine
I will cry for you
I will cry for you
I will wash away your pain with all my tears
And drown your fear
I will pray for you
I will pray for you
I will sell my soul for something pure and true
Someone like you
See your face every place that I walk in
Hear your voice every time I am talking
You will believe in me
And I will never be ignored...
Now tell me that that isn't die-hard Spike and Dru 'Shippy??? Yes, even with the "die" and "soul" bits...

Archangel Tweetie (01/06/02...) Posted Jul 30, 2000
Well see I'm not sure. I mean die and soul- not really Spike and Dru-esque are they?

Colin (The Happy Robot) Posted Jul 31, 2000
Dying is, given that they are already dead, however the soul part is definitely out.
