Egon, if i get this right, ranieri is like the noo yawk yanker manager joe torre and general manager brian cashman combined, and abramovich is like King George steinbuyer of the yankers' $190 million payroll. would that be a fair assessment ?
(torre said that this might be his last season, King George is said to be discussing a new contract for him. they haven't won a World Series in three seasons.)

Well, Ranieri wouldn't have *all* the powers of Cashman, but certianly morte than torre- he does decide what players to bid for etc.
And Abramovich/Steinbrenner's a decent comparison, although Abramovich only brought his billions to the club in the summer- although well over a hundred million pounds has been splashed out on transfer fees so far, easily the most of any football club in the same period.

and as the yankers are proof of, money doesn't necessarily win titles, but it does help if you can get the best players.
i think i'm gonna go on a freddy abu search, see how the kid's doing in what passes for pro soccer over here.

well, I don't think the actual MLS season has started yet, but I found http://www.washingtonpost.com helpful for news of Adus debut in a friendly.

or, once the season starts, the official MLS Site, http://www.mlsnet.com is always quite good.

yeah, i got the washington post site, but it's bookmarked for baseball and the mls site is linked off espn's, i believe, and i watch them, not read them.
i just haven't taken the time to look. too many other sites (space.com) to wander about in. the five planets were the closest i could get to meteorology, it was still barely above freezing here when i wrote the dang thing.
Key: Complain about this post
