Crikey....
A mate of mine had Malaria in his brain and was in intensive care in India for a while. At one point we didn't know if he was going to pull through or not.

They've got the date wrong. They mean the 2003/04 season.
And yes, you can have malaria for a very long time. The parasites lurk in the liver just waiting for the right moment to burst out and really screw you up, all over again.
