How do I entertain myself in a night club?

I am, of occasion, called upon to go night clubbing but gleaning little enjoyment from drinking or loud music and feeling too self-conscious to dance I am generally forced to decline.
Whilst I am perfectly contented with this state of affairs, it occurs to me that there may exist some game I could play in night clubs to keep myself entertained whilst my friends drink/dance/enjoy themselves in a more conventional way. If anyone has discovered/invented such a game I would be grateful to know.

Great question.
I just stay away. I love to go and see a band, but nightclubbing is just one of the things I'll never understand.

Despite some portrayl of the contradictory, no one really enjoys themselves in night clubs... they just pretend they do
