A Conversation for How do I...?

I'm on my way to become an addict, and there's nothing else bad about it except the rest of the family who don't like the phone bills... Goddammit... I'll have to start doing something useful instead... Like playing the piano... Oh no, don't even think about it, this is where I'll find myself anyway after some time... smiley - bigeyes

Yeah, I feel like this. H2G2 is brilliant, methinks.

But if I had to tear myself from the computer, I'd look at the alternatives to spending another hour online.

Me, I've got a guitar that needs playing. CDs that want listening, new games that -have- to be played! smiley - smiley
Of course, there are things that -have- to be done. Important things. Have you put any of those off. If do, do them now!
Hey, you could even go to a different website! Hell, the Official Iron Maiden site is massive...

Unfortunatly, I find that none of these work at about 11pm-midnight. It's too late to do anything other than surf, and by the time I want sleep I've been online for ages. So, I need a bitta helpin' here...

Simple. Get rid of your computer. If your computer is actually used as a tool as well as a time-waster, then your computer should get rid of you!

No, it's not that simple... The computer is needed here by the whole family so I just can't get rid of it and drive it to the nearest junkyard (is that a proper word?), though I sometimes feel like doing just that... And when it comes to unfinished jobs and things that need to be done, I've got loads of them! But this weekend I really am going to get them done... At least start doing them... Maybe... And surfing on other pages is not a solution since it doesn't affect the phone bill at all whether I am here or somewhere else... Some time ago I was addicted to E-mail but was able to stop in time and start being on-line only twice a day... Now I'm still here only twice a day, but sometimes hours at a time and that's not good... Perhaps it'll pass... Writing this is, however, one of the most useless things I could be doing here - since I already am here I could go to some place else and write something else and perhaps I'd be able to leave earlier... I'll stop here. smiley - smiley

Ok.
Thing is, once you've got all you jobs done you won't have anything to stop you going online!

Hmmm, this where I normally threaten people with stuff. But I won't.

Guilt is a negative emotion and bad for you. You have two choices: stop using h2g2, or stop feeling guilty.
What is "spare time" anyway?

Heh, I knew somebody would advertise that at some point.
I refused to be admitted to it back in November, and I refuse to be admitted to it now. I refuse to admit that I'm addicted.

We all have something magnificent in us; and work has been devised to prevent us from achieving it.

I guess I'm not THAT desperate... (http://www.h2g2.com/A206894) And besides, I only was here once yesterday! A major improvement! It doesn't mean I'd done all those unfinished things though... smiley - smiley

As usual, I was online for about three hours yesterday (saturday night). Not sure when from, but I know I only got off the computer at 12.40am.

This is such a familiar story. I had my addiction under control - down to half an hour a day to keep the phone bills down. Now I've got a new ISP and there are no phone charges for evening and weekend use. So nothing to worry about. What's wrong with spending your free hours here anyway?

Absolutley nothing.

The problem comes when you are charged for it.
1p a minute isn't bad. 3hrs = £1.80 which is ok. But over 12 weeks it mounts up and at the end of the quarter you are in debt and have to sell drugs.

Actually, I could do that. Hide the marijuana leaves amongst the brightly coloured flowers in the flowerbed...

Ack, an old book!
Yesterday I got my mark for a three page review of Wuthering Heights. I got a 'B', which is ok considering I hated that book and couldn't bring myself to say anything other than "this sucks!"

Seems to be literature now...

What do you mean by "ack"? Is it a negative word? Sounds like one... Les Misérables is really a marvellous book and one of the best I've ever read! Though I usually prefer fantasy and stuff... But I'm planning to start reading (other) classics as soon as I've got time... But why did you read a book you didn't like?
