I'm after some hints and tips on how to get a computer to a basic level of security to connect to the internet. I want to know as I'm want to write an article on the subject.
I know something about windows PC and unix, but I don't know about apple macs. This is where you all come in smiley - smiley.

Cheers

I have looked at the following sites:
http://privacy.net/analyze/
which tells you what information your computer is passing out, and I have also had my ports probed via SHIELDs UP at:
http://www.grc.com
Is this what you mean? smiley - fish

That's where I got the idea from smiley - smiley, your post in the addiction forum.
I'm also writing an article on privacy on the internet as well and when I've got my first draft out I'll put the link here.

Being a great believer in any conspiracy theory going does not help me. This whole issue seems quite important, and yet, who is worried?

It is important (especially the security aspects), but as you say who's bothered by it. I am, and I know that all I can do is make sure *I* know where I'm going on the net and who can see what about me.

Let me know what you find out. The network manager at work seemed spectacularly ill informed!

Well if anyone had replied to my query about macs then I might have done something, but as they haven't I'm leaving it open for a bit more.
