how do i mix the perfect mojito? and how do you spell it if that's wrong? I know it involves rum and mint, but any idea of quantities?

I actually haven't tried this myself, but my friend keeps telling me it's the perfect recipe...
Ingredients
6 to 8 mint leaves
1 Tbs. sugar
1 1/2 to 2 oz. white rum
1/2 lime
club soda
ice
Place sugar, mint and a splash of soda in a highball glass.
Crush the mint leaves against the glass with a spoon.
Squeeze the lime half into the glass, and drop what's left of it after the juice.
Add rum, stir, fill with ice. Top with club soda and garnish with mint.
