Glad you liked it.
It's odd, you know; apparently the BBC lawyers get nervous about linking to unofficial sites that have lyrics on them. That was part of the reason why this page got trashed by the Moderators last week. But those lyrics are all over the web! It'd be a bit late if anyone tried to do anything about it now!
If fact, of course, no-one DOES bother. Record companies sometimes tell sites to remove sound files if they've got complete tracks on them, but they never worry about lyrics. I'm they're just delighted with the free publicity the unofficial sites give their bands!

Of course. O.K. so once you start putting full MP3's on your page they will respond. But only the most overzealous record-companies complain about lyrics. The only site that comes to mind was lyrics.ch and that was closed down and then stripped before coming online again.
As I have always said : The music hits you directly, the lyrics follow at a distance, but often, after a while, they are more interesting than the music. As long as the lyrics are quoted because they are being discussed how can there be any objections ?
It only helps sell the records, as opposed to MP3. That issue is still not resolved.

btw, you might want to try and take a look at [URL removed by moderator], the website of the Good Looking Organisation, home of LTJ Bukem, Artemis, Big Bud etcetera. Under "Biographies" is the complete list of artists on that label

Thanks, Kheldar. The URL had been removed by the time I saw your post, but as a good Zaphodista I refuse to let Moderators defeat me! I did a search and found the site, and I have now added Artemis and LTJ Bukem to the Jukebox.
BTW, I like your slogan about the media! Yes, that's what I'm trying to do when I dabble in journalism!

Actually that slogan is a straight quote from one of Biafra's Spoken Word albums. A lot of those lectures are about censorship, politics and so on. I thought it was one of the best ones I ever heard and very suitable for the occasion. I'll probably do an entry on him one of these days.
Anyway, good thing that you found the Good Looking site. I'll let you know if I find anything else interesting

Well, the good thing is that I know Abi's doing the honours this time.
At least, I HOPE that's a good thing!
(Hi, Abi, old friend! You don't really want to delete any of those links, do you? Have a virtual bribe... )

Kheldar (Don't hate the media, Become the media) Posted Mar 30, 2001
Well...looks like it worked there mate . But anyway...if I can't post URL's in here, how am I supposed to give you new links for the jukebox. I wouldn't want to cheat, y'know

Congrats on getting the Music Website Jukebox back up! Hip Hip Hoorah!
Anyway, don't forget to keep backup copies handy, at least for now! And under the circumstances, I would recommend waiting until you have several links to add before risking the whole moderation process again.

Thanks to you both!
Kheldar - despite the Awful Warning at the top of the posting form, I'll give you my e-mail address: [email protected]. And in case that gets zapped my the Moderators, there's an e-mail link and my ICQ number towards the bottom of my Personal Space. Are you on ICQ, BTW? If so, may I have your number?
Fragilis - I have had a kind offer from Abi which should preserve the Jukebox in future. I'm going to e-mail her with the new URLs every time I update the page, and she's going to do all the moderating herself. Since, even then, the page will have to be off-line for a few hours at least, and so as not to put Abi out too much, I am going to restrict the updates to one a month or so. (The same arrangement applies to my soccer pages! )
But just in case a rogue Moderator attacks while Abi's back is turned, I think I'll take your advice about keeping a back-up copy!

Hallelujah
Ormy, I think you are already on my ICQ contact list. If you don't have my # yet, I think it's on my personal space somewhere

I just wanted to mention that I added another 60 links to the Music Website Jukebox page over the weekend. They're quite a mixture - everything from rock pioneers like Buddy Holly, Fats Domino and Gene Vincent, to some favourite new acts of mine like Goldfrapp and Starsailor. So that brings the page up to 680 links - any suggestions for further entries to bring it up to 700 will be warmly welcomed!

I could provide you with some links to Dutch bands...some of which are professional...others are semi-pro or amateurs, bands from the catacombs of Het Kasteel...
