A Conversation for Questions for the teacher
Thinking Too Much

I was recently accused of thinking too much when I started critically analysing a Ladybird Book (Red Riding Hood, I think, although all of the old stories have gaping holes in their logic). And I too worry about the teaching abilities of my child's teachers-to-be...
Many of us must be in a similar position in the early part of September!

Literacy, as opposed to aliteracy, requires critical thinking. If you don't think about everything you read or say or write, then the skills are useless.
My daughter is now in her last year of free school, a senior in High School. Since she and her mother have been living in another house for the last three years, I have no idea how her High Schooling has been going.
I do know that what few impressions I have of the place have not been very favorable.
Of course, I wasn't a big fan of my own High School, so I could be biased.
