Am I getting too far into the obscurity of Trekdom with this one?
The books are very popular, I assure you. Mainly among Trek fans though.

I LOVE this series! Peter David always has been my favorite Star Trek author, ever since the first Imzadi. Top notch stuff, Geggs
While reading through I found a few small typos:
I'm pretty sure Star Trek TNG is 'Next Generation' not 'New Generation'.
In Kebron section - "needs to wearing..." -> "needs to wear..."
In McHenry section - "reason for these things is revealed" -> leave out 'things'
In Selar section - flaping should have two 'p's
In Lefler section - "all that is throw into..." -> "all that is thrown into..."
In Si Cwan section - Colhoun should be Calhoun, also Si Cwan is the only character you didn't say what series he was created for.
Since in most genres a series is usually written by one author, you might include that most Star Trek series are written by several different authors which is why it's worth a mention that this series is almost exclusively one author.
Great entry!

Thank you for all those! All done and corrected and whatnot.
I'm glad I'm not the only one here the likes the New Frontier!

Great article! I was a big fan of the books but I lost track of them after various scripts and performances got in the way. Nice to see i'm not the only one who reads them!

Thank you!
I must admit that apart from a couple of Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens' books I bought a few years back, the New Frontier books are the only Trek books that I buy.
I do like PD's writing. A few books back one character (Ensign Beth, I think) was discombobulated. I loved that. It's one of those words that is always a joy to see in print.

I really like the idea of a Magotu (I've spelt that wrong but it's a trekie spelling so that's a reasnoble mistake to make) security officer. In Warhammer 40k there is a similar creature called a Jokaero which dispite being 10 foot tall and built like a brick s*** house have an amazing talent for micro technology and other fiddly jobs. No model has been produced of one and there is only one concept sketch and a bit of background but they have a lot of potential!

Cracking entry Geggs
"One aspect of the franchise that is usually ignored by all but the hardened fan..."
I can conform this. I'm a Star Trek fan, but I never got into the books. I have a couple of friends however (a married couple) who I would describe as 'hardened' fans - they bought all of the original series VHS tapes as they came out, and have a whole library of Star Trek books. They've lent me a number of the books over time, but I never felt like going out and buying more.

Thanks Gosho. I've now amended Ms Judd's first name.
If I remember correctly, I got into New Frontier because the first book came free with an issue of SFX, and as I was already a fan of PD's writing, I bought all the rest!

I just added a link to PD's (or rather PAD's) website, and tidied up the odd expression or two I didn't quite like.

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

Looks good. Do I take it that imdb links aren't liked in Edited entries?

Hi Geggs,
there's no official policy regarding imdb links (read: they're not officially banned), but I've taken them out in this case because there are already a few other external links and we are urged not to clutter an entry with too many (external) links. Also - my personal opinion - imdb links to actors are interesting in the first place when there's a photo on the page, which wasn't the case. In an article like this, I'd like to know who was Shelby again, not the filmography of Elizabeth Dennehy.
In fact, I looked this up on the Star Trek website.
Hope you don't mind.
