Yeah, Empire Strikes Back, the popular favouite of all the films, was the only one where Lucas wasn't involved in the screenplay (he only gave them the story). Coincidence?

Of course! Lucas can't go wrong! ... Except with Jar Jar and the annoying "romantic" dialogue... and... you get the point.

Now for my money, I sometimes prefer the Star Wars Expanded universe novels. Check out the New Jedi Order. Its very good despite what you may have heard.

I read some Star Wars novels, but they don't work for me. I feel that Star Wars needs to be seen.

I think I read the first of the new Jedi order books. Is that the one where Chewie dies?

*spoiler*
Yes.
*/spoiler*

But that was done for dramatic effect. You probably haven't noticed if you didn't read that many star wars novels but nobody important ever seems to die. Made it quite stale. The New Jedi Order changed that. With large explosions. Its only a nineteen book series, start now and you could be done in a few months or so smiley - winkeye

Nah, my head is still spinning from my reading all of Robert Rankins books last year. Here's a tip; don't read them all in one go. smiley - weird

Well they couldn't have picked a better way for Chewie to go. I mean, getting hit by a moon, very original.

You should put the spoiler marks on but who am I to complain? I really doubt i can get any of you to read nineteen books especially when book one kills off the Large Furry One.

So just who is this "Chewie" guy anyway? smiley - erm

Yeah, Chewie was the life and soul of Star Wars. There's no point in reading the novels if he's dead.

Besides, Han and Leia's children really annoyed me. It's a silly idea.

And another thing, if Aniken isn't allowed to marry Padme because he's a Jedi, then how come Leia is allowed to marry Han, or Luke is allowed to marry Mara Jade?

He got all the best lines like "Raaar!", "Wrarr", and my personal favourite "Wurr wur wur".

Because a.) Leia was not technically a Jedi when she married Han and b.) Luke reconstructed the Jedi Order and didn't know about all the rules and regulations. Oh and c.) Because romance sells. So there.

Pah, sounds like bad continuity to me.

Well actually. Sorta. Because Lucas is sort of a d*ck and doesn't mind undermining anything the books do by directly contradicting them in the movies. Even though he authorizes the books, he doesn't care about them.

Lucas created the whole story in the first place, without which the movies, books, etc., would never have existed. I would cut him some slack, personally. smiley - erm

Oh i respect him for that. But my respect is weighed against Jar Jar and the new trilogy and against how he confuses me with book/movie discrepencies. I understand that hes not going to change his movie plans just because something in the books contradicts them but it makes it confusing for a fan like me.

But all the Star Wars books are canon. Lucas can't contradict what it says in the books. This isn't like Star Trek where the TV shows regularly contradict the books since they're not canon.

They are canon but he contradicts them. Because he can. Because he is the "Lucas"

Pah is small? But he thinks he's big? Does he have sight problems, or just a faulty mirror? smiley - huh
