I did a web search to find some pictures of the Prawn. My conclusion: It's great. It's silly and it's fun. Having seen pictures of it, I want to go and see it in the 'flesh', as it were.

If Plymouth residents don't like it, they have no sense of fun, so smiley - tongueout to them! smiley - winkeye

The picture link in the Alternative Writing Workshop thread for this piece now goes to an image of a man dressed as Worzel Gummidge. Who you might call a right prawn, but not a Plymouth prawn, unless of course he comes from Plymouth...

There's a better picture here:

I think the Cap'n Jasper picture is a bit too distant to get any real idea of the appearance of the prawn. I like it so much, I wish I could afford a mousemat!

The thing about the prawn is some people like it some don't.

I lived in Plymouth for 3 years and I liked the prawn. Its cool.

I also liked the giant sundial. great meeting place!

Hi all,

I love the Prawn too - it's about the first decent piece of art the city fathers have commisioned for a long time!

I took the photo on the MayflowerSteps web site - I run the site, too, so thanks for mentioning it (anyone like the photo tour?). I liked it so much I've put more photos of it on another web site I run:
http://www.cilco.co.uk/stock-photos/plymouth/plymouth-stock-photos-index-.htm

I especially like the one where the seagul is sat on top of the mayflower steps arch and is juxtaposed with the Prawns head... If anyone wants any prints of any of the photos, email me... [email protected]

Happy New Year to all smiley - magic
