Secretly Not Here Any More Started conversation Feb 19, 2004
Come on, get it together!
"Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (Darth Maul, Qui-Gon Jinn/Obi-Wan Kinobe) So much text to let it be known that this, although I don't know its name, is a great example of what was said before."
It's "Kenobi" and the song is called the "Duel of the Fates"....
But never mind eh....

Just becuase I've read the books, seen the films and played the games and built an rpg empire out of itdoes not mean I know all about Star Wars!

I was going to say that too.
Can't believe you didn't know and couldn't find the info anywhere...
Anyway, are you now arguing that artistic quality = box office returns, ie. the better a film is the more money it will make, and thus the more money a film has made the better it must be? Cos if so I think you're on really incredibly shaky ground there.
Talk of 'the greatest film of all time' is always inevitably nonsense anyway, no matter what the description is attached to... I mean, I'm a huge huge fan of (for example) Bringing Up Baby, Magnolia, and Symphony of Horror... but how could you possibly make an objective comparison between them?

I'm not arguing anything. I made a simple statement (and fact) and gave an opinion.

RotK is in the top ten anyway with the other two and the second Potter.

Which bits of your column are you happy to discuss?
It's not 'nitpicking', anyway. And the way you arranged your opinion and the facts looked rather like you were trying to make a point, why else would they be in the same paragraph? Why include them at all if you don't consider that one supports the other?

He's here personally, not professionally. Come on, decking him would be very, very satisfactory....

'Nitpicking'?
Nitpicking is correcting dodgy grammar or pointing out typos that were obvious anyway or trying to split hairs. I'm not doing that, your last paragraph essentially ran:
1. RotK isn't as good as lots of people think it is.
2. It certainly isn't one of the greatest films ever.
3. The films that did best at the box office were...(gives list)
4. I didn't go and see any of them.
Either this was just a pointless ramble or you're saying that the greater a film is the better box office it does. Which is questionable to say the least.
If you're going to write things like that in the Post you've got to expect people to take issue with them or at least ask you exactly what you meant.

If memory serves me correctly, RotK is seventh or something in that list.
I did not say the bigger the gross the better the film. Idon'tbelieve that ESPECIALLY with Titanic at #1. I'm just stating that these films are supposed to bethe greatest draws but I never went to see them.
Plus I think Fellowshipis better than RotK and TT.

And nit-picking is drawing attention to every small detail aswell.
