I haven't seen the film, but your entry gives me a rather good idea of what it was about. I'm sorry to see that you submitted this months ago with no feedback at all. Let's rectify that!

My first question would be when was the film made? I know you say it takes place in the 1980s, but when was it actually filmed?

My other concerns are that there are a few places where this sounds more like a review than a synopsis of the film. There isn't anything at all wrong with a review, but a review would be better suited to the Post than to the Edited Guide. Specifically the paragraph before the Shane Meadows header seems to be based somewhat in opinion as opposed to fact or analysis. Certainly this is just my opinion, others may see that as being okay. smiley - ok

There are a few technical flubs scattered about; punctuation errors or spacing errors, etc.

I agree - I think the most important tidying that needs doing is separating the plot summary from the analysis and the analysis from the opinion. It jumps a bit.

I think the paragraph before Shane Meadows is ok - it's mostly analysis - except the last sentence
>>Yet the ending did feel rather sudden; it did feel as if more story development needed to take place, more needed to happen with the characters to make it a truly satisfactory film.

Which is opinion. It could be turned into analysis with a bit of trouble.

smiley - ok

I didn't see the earlier version, but it looks good now. It certainly encouraged me to see the film. Your punctuation needs a bit of tidying, but I think the overall structure is okay. I think. Wait for a second opinion on that.

Can you separate the plot summary from the other details?

I started to separate out the plot from the background details as Leo suggested, but I didn't think it flowed as well. (have just realised I didn't save that version so can't post it here to show you all - d'oh!! smiley - silly)Also, I thought it made it a more interesting article to read when there was a mixture of plot with a few background details about the directors and actors. Would be interested to know what other people felt about the structure - also of any other bits and pieces you'd like to see added..? smiley - smiley

Well, since it's short I suppose it's fine. I just like things neat and tidy. *thinks about floor of own room* Other people's things neat and tidy.

Things I'd want to know about a movie: director, actors, year, awards, reviews (positive or negative?), how widely it played (never heard of this one before)... I think that's it.

neat and tidy....hmmm...something which I aspire to be, but mess just keeps on getting in the way!
I will start digging out those bits and pieces and get back to you.
