I realize that some of the links are to unedited entries. Those entries are related and are going into PR at virtually the same time.

The last of the bunch it seems, and as excellent as the rest. Well done.
At a quick read, I could find no fault here, so well done again.

Very good.
In the section on Wolfe you might want to mention that he also had a reputation for being willing to take a risk - as exemplified by the famous (possibly apocryphal) exchange between King George and one of his military advisers
Adviser "Wolfe is a mad dog"
King George "Well I wish he would bite some of my other generals"

In the Uk it's usually referred to as the Battle of the Heights of Abraham, on account of having been fought at the *top* of the cliffs.
Worth a footnote possibly.

definitely only a footnote based on a google search: battle of the plains of abraham came up with 1500 hits; battle of the heights of abraham had 23.
The footnote has been installed.

Thanks for this one Anhaga, I'd have called it The Heights of Quebec - awkward ain't I ?
The bluffs were left undefended because it was not thought they could be climbed by a military force. (I'm working from memory here) Wolfe's force had a large Scottish contingent within it, and the (possibly apophrycal) story of his sparing the young lad was spread to try and reduce tension between the highland and regular troops.

And . . . according to some reports the trail to the heights/plains was defended, both passively with earthworks and timber barriers, and actively by a small (really small) group of sentries (who ran away with great dispatch).
And . . . according to some reports the Scottish contingent was loyal to Wolfe because of the (possibly true) story of the incident at Culloden.
I suspect further investigation will be evident in a future entry on James Wolfe.
At no time am I suggesting that I am planning such an entry. My list of entries-to-do is far too long at the moment.

If you and Bluebottle start bumping all your entries we'll be in trouble - I'm postponing putting my new one in.

You didn't say that others couldn't bump them...
Besides, I think all the castles are gone now?

After two months in PR, given that it was ready to go on arrival, I should think that Anhaga will have surpassed Yoda in terms of
The battle itself probably didn't take that long to prepare..

Ah... 'tis often the way with well-written entries about not particularly mainstream subjects! No-one can find anything to pick at and improve, and no-one knows enough about the subject to suggest anything else to include, so it gets buried at the bottom of PR. On the other hand, things may improve soon

Hi anhaga
This entry is great to read. I got to visit Quebec once, and had a great time, the city still looks very imposing.
I just had a few ideas while I was reading it. I'm not familiar with the geography around quebec - could you add something along the lines of the position of the cliffs wrt Quebec (and the direction they face), the position of the St. lawrence wrt Quebec, the direction that the St. lawrence flows. This would really help me to visualize the situation.
