The h2g2 Poem

The space shuttle Columbia explosion was on February 1, 2003. I wrote this the next day. The space shuttle Challenger explosion was on Wednesday, January 28, 1986. The 18th anniversary of that - January 28, 2004 - took place yesterday.

What are these tears for?

I haven't lost anything.

It was not my cousin who died.

What are these tears for?

I haven't lost anything.

Space junk did not land in my back yard.

What are these tears for?

I haven't lost anything.

I did not miss a sonic boom in Florida.

What are these tears for?

I haven't lost anything.

My job is as safe as before.

What are these tears for?

I haven't lost anything.

Only a piece of a dream.
