UPDATE!
The Ghost Of TV's Frink Posted Feb 12, 2000
Neat! I got a cool picture of Saturn. I believe this is worth mentioning in the next newsletter, assuming anyone braves the length of the forum thread to read it.........
UPDATE!
The Ghost Of TV's Frink Posted Feb 15, 2000
I'm thinking of changing the newsletter format a bit. I think it might work better if I post each update on a user page, and make a new forum that would just be used to let everyone know the page has been updated.
Thoughts?

Brilliant musings from the mind of Frink! I think that's the best way to go about it!!
And bluebottle, what did you think of my little observatory? Need any additional info??

Bluebottle - the newsletter is located here:

It's very long and I plan on moving it as soon as I find some time.

Great page! I was just about to do something like this myself which was just a very simple introduction to astronomy for non-astronomers.
Just one thing you missed out was the space shuttle - check out http://www.heavens-above.com to see when it passes over your house next - it is really impressive. I think this link is closely related to the Fourmilab link, but it is deadly accurate as to satellite passes.

Thanks for the link! I'll check this out when the skies clear here (bloody snow!) and I'll include it in the next update!

Hi Jimi,
And while you are at it, if you get a chance, keep an eye out for aurorae - there's a coronal mass ejection from the Sun on its way....

UPDATE!
Woodpigeon Posted Feb 21, 2000
Whoops!
It must be all that residual stress of being in exactly that situation during the solar eclipse last year. It only happens once every 3 generations, and it happened on the worst, most godawful, wet, miserable day of the whole year.
Can't say I saw anything special in the sky last night though....

UPDATE!
Jimi X Posted Feb 22, 2000
Next to reading to my kids, I love to show them the stars, planets and moons. And it's been cloudy for so long that we've all got a bit of cabin fever. Though clearing is predicted for tonight...

Sun Storms
Bumblebee Posted Feb 23, 2000
Hi Jimi X
I was wondering if you have anything on the sunstorms that are raging against our poor planet these days?
I tried to see if there was something on the net about it but I couldn't find anything.
I would like to learn some more about the sunstorms that are happening now and how they affects us.
Anybody?
Lovely page by the way
