I don't know enough about physics to tell you whether you're right about everything, but it all seems to match up with what my highschool physics teacher told us smiley - smiley

Have you read "Black Holes and Timewarps - Einstein's Outrageous Legacy" by Kip S. Thorne? It's a fascinating read, and covers both the science (at a readable level smiley - winkeye ) and the history of the discoveries made in that area. It's published here in the UK by Picador, and ('scuse me whilst I grab it from by bookcase...) was first published in 1994. Well worth a look.
