Wow, that was a quick one. All done and dusted in one night.
Would you mind giving us your full answer, bob? I'd be quite interested to know the dates and origins of these items.

Fooey.
(I was too late, then) (but would have been wrong anyway, especially with the aquarium).

If it's any consolation I was expecting a few more runs around the block before we found the right order - I just kinda lucked onto it, really. With some astute reasoning as well, of course.

Does the QI continue until we get the inventor and country of origin
or are we free of restriction to google that now?

There's still points for identification? Lovely.
Babbage (who we have already found) is British.
Would that first magazine - and I've just thought of this this morning - be The Strand? Which would therefore the British again.

I've just stumbled across a book telling me that the first 'periodical' was Monthly Discussions, published by German theologian Johann Rist in 1663.

Jules Verne is written without a final "s", unlike Henri Vernes (who is Belgian).

If over bad financial policy the US were to fall to pieces and Michigan were annexeed by Canada, then I would be Canadian Even though I was born and raised in the US.

there was speculation that leonardos diving suit would not be very effective as the snorkle/airhose would be too long and the diver would not be able to braeth due to the pressure, when it was constructed it was found that the snorkles "float" that kept the free end above the water had a bouant valve on it and could serve as an air reseviour, the diver would pull the float down to him, and there by preasurizing the air , allowing the diver to breath

There are two camps on what Michigan residents call themselves.
The other camp says they are Michiganians.
I and most people I know say we are Michiganders.
