But it was just stated he was faking illness. Watson's limp was psychosematic, but it was still fake, not real.

Right.... so... a who, rather than a what?

Flashman didn't meet Sherlock Holmes, did he? I remember him 'meeting' historical characters, but I don't know if he met any fictional ones, other than those in TB's School days.

Didn't Chesney's film also feature Roger Dalentry playing his dad?

Are these ruminations on Mr Hawkes in any way relevant, Taff, or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Were Watson and Flashman in the same unit, or something, so their stories can't both be right?

I re-read bits of A Study In Scarlet the other day, to see how it matched up with the new Sherlock thing. Watson was injured (in the book) in the battle of Maiwand, but nothing about being a sole survivor. Does the Flashman book have Flashman as the sole survivor of Maiwand, when in fact there were lots of survivors?

Feisor - -0- Generix I made it back - sortof ...

Flashman claimed to be the sole survivor of the First Anglo-Afghan War.

I think that whole premise was based on the real survivor Dr John Brydon - there's a famous painting depicting him.
