>What I really want to get to is what category of people would be intimately concerned about a forthcoming eclipse?<
Oh alright then. Pregnant women. If there's no moon they'll have to wait another month.

Nope. It's more of a particular role ... a job...

Moonlighters?
No moon, so they can't work?

So an astrologer advises someone to wear grass mats?
We still need to find out who's wearing the grass, why, and why astroturf doesn't work instead of grass (to the point of being offensive).

So, let's refocus: what or why would astrologers be advising someone to don a grass hat because the lunar eclipse was imminent?

Common sense. I always wear a grass hat during lunar eclipses
Is it to prevent something from coming from heavens above into your head, or to prevent something escaping from your head?

Anything at all to do with water?
Seeing as the moon has a major role in tides, maybe a lunar eclipse would have some kind of effect on rivers?
What that could have to do with astrologers, I'm not sure...

Let me break this
Who is wearing the grass hats?
and why?
>Is it to prevent something from coming from heavens above into your head<

To prevent getting crazy, or discolouring of hair?
Or, baldies should wear the grass hat, otherwise their hope to ever grow hair again (or to keep a shiny top) would be thwarted if exposed to a lunar eclipse?

Is it worn as a protection at all? Covering the eyes? Ears? Hair? Absence of hair?
Is it a special sort of hat? Is that relevant in any way?

They are concerned with people's future. So, is it that a grass hat protects against the negative effect a lunar eclipse will have on your life? If you want specifics, I'd venture: your sentimental life?

there is a superstition that if you add a blade of ``holy grass'' to your food during an eclipse, it prevents the food from going bad. would some astrologer have to give you the grass from his hat to ensure it's holy?
