QI - Sheds (Part Two)

You're a long way off, lil.
The point about Sumatra was that women and children were dying over a prolonged period. Aircraft don't come into that side of the story at all.

any thing to do with dan-air
QI - Sheds (Part Two)
InfiniteImp Posted Dec 17, 2008
Not as far as I know. I'd have thought Dan-Air was much too recent.

Is it anything to do with the RAF?
QI - Sheds (Part Two)
InfiniteImp Posted Dec 17, 2008
Nothing to do with hydrogen, Kipper.
I'm not clear what you mean by "which Cardington?". There are several towns with that name, and I mean the one in Bedfordshire. If you're asking which shed, I can't remember what they told me. The link is with the R100 rather than the R101, if that helps.

Sorry, missed the RAF question. No. As far as I know, nothing to do with the RAF (though of course everyone was dragged into the war one way or another).

Vickers Armstrongs Limited mean anything?
QI - Sheds (Part Two)
InfiniteImp Posted Dec 17, 2008
Here's my problem, Kipper. I don't want to do any more research on this. People moved from one company to another. As the British air industry failed, companies bought companies. A key figure in the story worked for de Havilland before moving to Cardington.
It would be very easy for me to say no to something that turned out to be true.
So Vickers Armstrong ... all I can say is I don't think so.

lets see
de Havilland Canada in 1962 The Avro Canada aircraft production facility was transferred to de Havilland Canada by the companies' parent Hawker Siddeley, hawker produced the HS121 Trident into one of which a Airspeed Ambassador aircraft crashed in to in 1968 the air speed was the type of air craft involved in the munich disaster
the air ship R100 made and housed in Cardington and made regular vouges to toronto, the town in which De Havilland was based.
thats all i got but i would like to add that the DH.98 Mosquito appears in the TinTin book the red sea sharks.

InfiniteImp Posted Dec 17, 2008
That's impressive stuff, Kipper. I'm a Tintin fan and a Mosquito fan, and hate that parade of lumbering death-traps that represented the bulk of the work of Bomber Command.

throwing caution to the wind
was it any thing to do with WorldWar II
QI - Sheds (Part Two)

Hi Kipper,
Sumatra, not Somalia. It's an island that is now part of Indonesia, but at the time in question was a Dutch colony that was invaded by the Japanese.
So, yes, WWII.
