There might be a need to make sure that the welcoming messages mention the fact that one of the <./>ACEs</.> [not forgetting to make the link to the <./>ACEs</.> Homepage...] will come to their Spaces shortly to welcome them officially so that the newbies don't get confused...

Also, something around "unofficial Welcome" in the subject line would be useful and make our life easier as i have several times gone to some newbies spaces and found postings with "Welcome" and "hello and Welcome" as subject, so i assumed that they had been already ACEd and left their spaces which was an unnecessary delay in their ACEing process... Though we do have a system which does eventually show the newbies who have not been ACEd, it's always better IMHO to make sure that they get ACEd as soon as possible, especially when <./>ACEs</.> are around/<./>online</.>...

Before i was an ACE, i did some unofficial welcoming as well... Though it was more around posting specific links to some newbies who happened to be from the same old site than mine and needed specific help [re: digibox and links etc...]... But i usually indicated in the subject line what it was for and if the newbie had not been ACEd by the time i posted, i also left a message to an ACE to let him know that this newbie would be in need of ACEing asap...

No need to do that as well though...
