Once apon a time I used to be U52300. My last post was on May 13, 2001.

How do I log into an old account? smiley - wah

Please help... I want to return to my old body - this one is rather itchy, also U988173 just dosn't sound as nice as U52300!

Welcome back Dan! It's always nice to see an old face back around the site.

Are you still in Adelaide?

I'm afraid that I don't have an answer on returning to your old account, mind you I am interested to hear the answer...

But until someone with a bit of a clue turns up, welcome back man!

smiley - cheers

I think that was too long ago to be salavageable. In the previous round of upgrades they got rid of the ability to migrate the really old accounts. Apparently the code was too difficult or taking up too much room and they applied the "use it or lose it" principle. The active people with old accounts had been keeping up with the various login changes. I've seen a handful of too-late returnees like you turning up since. I don't know if that's the sort of number they expected.

Pre-BBC accounts can no longer be retrieved.

If you migrated your account after the "interruption in service" then you can find help at A570403. If you have all the pertinent information but no password, there's a BBC page where you can retrieve your password. If there's other information you're missing, a quick email should resolve your troubles. smiley - ok

Welcome back! smiley - biggrin

"you can find help at A570403"

No. That's out of date. The myBBC facility was deleted a year or so ago.

There's emailing membership at bbc.co.uk to try (which was handling SSO login problems last I heard). The official SSO page at A1325387 doesn't say anything of much help with this issue.

I didn't realise that page was no longer accurate, thanks.

The email address you need to contact is:
h2g2.support AT bbc.co.uk
which was current as of July of this year.
Include as much information as you can remember about your account; user number, screen name, email address, etc. They MAY be able to retrieve the account, or they may not.
It may take them a few days to get around to it as well, so be patient. smiley - smiley

Wow... Thankyou for your replies - I forgot how hoopy people are here at H2G2! It has been too long... And to think people like Jimi X even remember me!
I have emailed support (Thanks broelan) and maybe some time soon I will be able to slip back into my old shell... Until then I will be exploring the wonderful additions and the many changes that have been made to the guide in the past couple of years...

Thanks again and see you all soon.

Cheers!smiley - cheers
