No idea what it was but someone, somewhere has a list of some of the quotes, though I'm not sure how up to date it is. (I think it was TiT. These things are usually TiT!)
It would be good if Derek popped the QOTD in the QOTD message though.

Going back through the FrontPage archives, I find that the quote-of-the-day link is frequently malformed - using "latest=1" instead of an explicit "skip=" offset and thus no longer indicating the actual post at all. However, some of those faulty links also include the #pi and thus the correct skip can be reconstructed.

It was hardly "the other day". I had to go back to the 10th of July to find it and the actual quote itself was from 4 weeks ago.
