Eh - might have some spelling/grammar faults, since English is a foreign language to both of us - hopefully not too many!
And I hereby confirm that the photos linked to in this entry were taken by me personally and they have not been published elsewhere (I took those photos specifically to be used to illustrate this entry! Ah - the sacrifces one makes...)

Sacrifices, not sacrifces!
And how come my co-writer isn't automatically included when I submit this?

Not to worry, she's listed as an author, of course this is all fine and ship shape, and I couldn't see any problems.

Yes it looks like a fine addition to the guide in the making
There are only two small drawbacks that I can see.
1) The picture links will not be included in the final Edited Guide version. However there is no harm in asking pretty please with chocolate sprinkles on top if they could be blobbed.
2) I haven't got any snow to practice with

Well, I'm hoping very much that we'll be allow to use my photos in the edited version - like in my entry on Icehotel <./>A756047</.>
I'll do some once I know how the sub-Ed will be, and ask the sub-Ed to do some
to the Italics...

I hope you're allowed to keep the photos in too. Interesting to see what the italics make of it. I agree with Fb on this one.

You might think of it as a night light, Whisky. It's one of those small candles in an aluminium casing.

Whisky Posted Feb 10, 2004
Gotcha... Nightlight I understand (might be worth a footnote though - unless I'm the only one out here who's never heard that one before)

I know them as "tea nights" as well as night lights.
They're the small candles in tin cases that can be purchased very cheaply, (about 12 for a pound)

*mutters something under her breath about Brits who can't make up their mind about what to call things*
Footnote added!

Z, you're being ripped off Ikea sell them in bags of 100 for under two quid.
Oh, and they call them 'Glimma', so that's another name to add to the list

Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Feb 11, 2004
'Glimma' is a Swedish verb, something like 'glimmer' in English - and no, I'm not going to advertise IKEA...

IKEA? ??? You actually go to Ikea????
But.. But.. that's Swedish!!! therefore a load of old rubbish!

Oops, time to go

GreyDesk Posted Feb 11, 2004
So glimma is a real word. Gosh
We all assumed that Ikea's product naming policy was to come up something that sounded both vaguely Nordic, and slightly rude

'Aftonstund' table lamp - 'evening hour'
'Barnslig' leg decoration - 'childish'

No photos appear for me.
Great entry. Good links
How do you stop the smaller bucket touching the larger one for the ice lantern?

There are only links to photos - click inside the picture frames
I'll let Hati answer the bucket question - I haven't actually tried it myself...
Come to think of it I think I once, as a kid, used just one bucket and waited for the edges to freeze to desired thickness, then knocked a hole in the ice on top and poured out the water that hadn't frozen yet
