Yes...it has developed into a fine community...with its' own welcoming committee, the soon-to-be-launched online newspaper
and an overall sense of all things informative,fun....and downright silly! The fact that in one night you can find yourself replying to a serious discussion on the power of the internet..and the use of netiquette and correct spelling...followed by a quick jaunt to Frink's Drinks,a turn in Monsy's hot tub (and under it!),obeysance at
one or two Temples and a chuckle out loud at a typing error, which develops a life of it's own....speaks volumes!
But the best part of h2g2 still has to be the wonderful and varied tapestry of the life form known as h2g2ers!
Postees become friends, friends become good friends.....and sometimes,if you are very very lucky....even more

I have been lucky enough to see my circle of friends grow from around my city to around my world. My life is better to know these people. If for no other reason than to gather together minds from across the globe for a disscusion about beer or the benefits of coffee, the good people at h2g2 have won big. As it is, I am planning on a trip just to meet a good friend face to face. This site has been mentioned on the online E-zine "Slashdot.org" which gave it exposure to computer professionals and hackers that slowed the whole site down for a day. I even had a post about it. I was floored to see that "my little playground" got mentioned on /. I felt honored that I was there before a lot of people, but now I feel a responsibility to help new researchers feel at home. I do not see splintering and cliques form that i see everywhere else that people gather. To the people at h2g2, Thanks, Thanks a lot. Cheers and bottoms up!

Absolutely marvelous, I have been away from the forums for a few weeks, and Its great to be back in the saddle again. A trip to one of those aformentioned Temples , and a dip in the hot tub sounds perfect.
H2G2 has been, and I am sure, will continue to be a wonderful experience for us all. Hear, Hear to all H2G2ers, past, present, and future.

Its absolutely amazing to me how engrossing this place has become as well. In the beginning, I'd drop by once a day, see what was going on and then run off. Now, I log on as soon as I get to work and pretty much stay there until I go home. I've even started hopping on *at* home! This is a wonderful place, full of wonderful people and I feel that my life has been truly enriched by being a member of this community. Thank you, each and every one of you, for making this a place that I can consider my cyber home!
*sniff, now I'm all emotional*

*borrows a corner of the hanky as she is finding herself a bit emotional as well*
yes, i must agree, this site has turned into more than i ever imagined it would
my dear husband (fairly strange) joined the group first and had to drag my into it kicking and screaming.....i just knew it was nothing more than another one of those "gawd-awful" chatrooms that you see all over the net but once here i discovered it was quite a bit different
it is like a "little community" where we are all both family and friends

I have to agree with all the above (except my husband didn't drag me into this - that would be too bizarre).
It all feels so 'homely' thanks to the people you find here. In the past, I've joined many such groups which have all now passed by the wayside as I've been somewhat dissapointed with some of the stuff that goes on there. In fact, I've only come across one 'semi-argument' at 'The Guide' which I wouldn't even class as a squabble.
It's the sheer variation which appeals to me most, I think.
