I predict the guys cashing in on the Y2K hype will be unprepared for the large drop off in sales
come January. ( may be a good time to go buy a generator set smiley - smiley )

I've already gotten a pile of used computers from people who knew they had to update ( even after I told them to just change out the BIOS chips , which I'd do for free ) . Had a slow afternoon a couple of months back so I made every machine I had ( including a heap of 486s ) Y2K compliant. I still have a hard time believing the level of hype. I've seen office phone systems changed out because the displays will say 00 for the year, if the staff can't figure out that that means 2000 then they have a much bigger problem then the phones. Then there is the "embedded chip" problem, most of those don't have any way to set the year , so guess what . They don't know or care what year it is. I have heard there is a Y2K problem with tombstones though , husbands died say 20 years ago , headstone was made for two with the wife's date left as 19__ awaiting her arrival .There are going to be a few stones that need work.

Might be good time to buy stock in Motarola. They are one of the leading providers of sat phones. Although two of the current sat phone/pager networks are in Chapter 11, it's rumored they will begin trading in January. How is this relavent to survivalist gear? The phones could become a hot item.
