the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. It is only an American thing and has nothing to do with all of North America. NASCAR raced twice in Canada (back in the fifties, so we don't care about those) and three times in Japan (which isn't in any sort of America, North of South) when it was conclusively proved that Japanese would rather watch pointy-nosed things circle the track endlessly never closer than 1/2 lap to each other than watch close, side-by-side action. Maybe they need to see the helmet bobbing around.
