Finally a review that doesn't just play to the hype. Kudos to you Awix.

I felt a bit like that the first time I saw it (I think I forgot that I didn't immediately adore the first two films)
But second time round - when I knew what they'd "done to" the films - I could relax and love it!

Well I hold LOTR 3 over 2 simply because I don't like 'The Two Towers'.
Ian Holm's aged make-up was a bit too much...

C'mon, he had like 50 years to catch up with in a very short time, you'd have a face like that too.
I know, it looked weird, but the twee fishing scene at the beginning was worse (wahey, I don't give away stuff, well done me)

Completely agree with Swiv, had to see them all twice, first time just to find out what PJ had done to them, second time to enjoy. I did also feel that it showed where there's been stuff left out which we'll get back on the extended DVD (and captions to indicate this would have been v useful, good point Awix). Possibly too ROTK would have felt less anti-climatic if they'd included the full return to the shire (carefully phrased so as not to spoil) - although this could easily have been a film in itself. PJ jokingly suggests during the commentary on TT (sorry, bit of an anoraky christmas) that maybe the team should go back and make fillers of all the bits they had to skim over or leave out of the films - there are a lot of us who would really, really enjoy that ...
BYW not entirely sure if I've got the hang of this posting to conversations thing, so sorry if this ends up in the wrong place!
Key: Complain about this post
