ps
it came from a chat quite awhile ago . . . I asked him if there was a short form of anoldgreymoonraker that I could call him by and he said - call me arnold, lots of people do.
okay?

Meanwhile, Arnie is totally somebody else, but I tend to call him Dealer . . . just to avoid confusion.

And quite a neat trick that was, given that you are several thousand miles and several times zones away . . . spooky, man!

Ok... so .. Jimster definitely stirred us up a bit. (Those ideas were horrible btw). I've expressed a few times as short hand about how bad I thought the ideas were. I hope they were posited only for discussion because I don't think I could stand a caste system in hootoo. And that is what it would be. I've been here from nearly the beginning. I've written and cowritten a few entries. I'm thinking about a few others but I haven't written a darn thing in at least a year. I'm very proud of the entries I've written. However, I don't think there should be a requirement for researchers to actually contribute entries because it took me a few years (with a hiatus) to start writing my first entry and I'm sure others have done the same. A new researcher NEEDS to take some time to acclimate in many cases... If they had an instant quota of entries to keep up access to this site they'd just leave.
Oh... Anyway, that's what I have to say and that's what I tried to say with .
[I love you folks and I'm sure I'm not expressing myself as well as I should but you should all know that this place is very important to me. Let's not muck it up.]

"One good thing about pre-moderation is that generally we can just forget about the person and then count up any transgressions at the end of the period."
How long *is* the period, Jimster? I haven't managed to find that information anywhere.

Milla, get that blanket off your head . . . meanwhile, think twice before you ever get pedantic with ME again . . . bwuahahaha
Yes, am being totally .
Interesting that nobody considered arnold as trolling or whatever . . . he was clearly someone posting 'under the influence' and everbody had time for him and made efforts to speak to him elsewhere. As well as here.
This tells me that people *do* have a lot of patience with certain researchers, but only up to a point. And that point is fair enough, I think.
Because arnold wasn't disrupting this thread, he was just posting stuff here and there . . . ('a bit like jazz', loved that one!) quite different from someone who is actually being disruptive on purpose.
And everyone here could see the difference.
So, now what?

It's 07.25 here in NZ, and in the UK, 19.25 on a Sunday evening, Arnold. A lot of people in the UK, will be having their evening meal, and not here. I have been reading the posts up to now, and I see your points...
I think Jimster's idea was awful, and am glad he wasn't really serious about it.
I started writing entries pretty much straight away, but so far have 0 in the Edited Guide. It's not that easy!
Either the topics I choose are not of general interest, or in two particular cases, I am too subjective. (Or so I have been told.) I accept that the judgement is correct in those cases, my Ahmed Zaoui and death penalty entries. But, such criteria for full membership would be beyond many people (entries in the EG).
Key: Complain about this post
