AG (anti-gravity): a field of energy created by an object which negates the effects of gravity, can also refer to the machine which produces the energy or field

Alpha Centauri: one of only two major outer sector colonies. Primarily agrarian, but with some ship building and industry, like its sister colony of Vega, is used primarily for stellar obsevation and scientific research, especially into the field of tera-forming. Capital is Centaurus.

Avatar: a speciallized mech that responds to direct thought interface with the pilot. Pilot training is exlcusive to combat veterans of suffiecient intelligance or it can result in insanity

Beam Weapons: weapons that use a force field to hold and circulate plasma to form a cutting weapon. These are exlucively used for Avatars when in close range, most effective weapons when one is out of ammunition. The most common form is the Beam Sword, though other forms possible.

Earth: capital planet of the Federated Planets of Sol (FPS) rich in industry and scientific institutes. Center of learning for FPS

Earthers: term for citizens of Earth

Europolis: capital of the Jupitron Empire

Gattling (or rotary) guns: and gun with three or more rotating barrels for the purpose of increasing the rate of fire and decreasing the wear rate on the barrels of a weapon. can concieveably used for any type of ranged weapon (HV, PPG, PPC, ect)

HV gun (or Hyper-Velocity) gun: most common weapon on all sides, it uses magnetism to fire a metalic slug at supersonic speeds (thats nearly the speed of light). these are often rapid fire weapons, using small and large calibers.

Ion Engines: ion engines use magnetism to propell light matter out of their apperatures at great speed, which is like a chemical rocket, only much more effectient and requiring less fuel for the same amount thrust. These are used universally amoungst all the colonies and in the atmosphere and outerspace

Jump platform: a specialized, Earth monopolized peice of equipment that creates a temporary Anti-Gravity bubble around a ship which allows it to attain speeds faster than light. The heavier the ship, the more power is required to send it.

Jupiter: powerful industrial world with large shipping interests and powerful mining consortiums.

Jupitron Empire: the government of Jupiter. Imperialistic, taking what they need and enslaving others to their economy if not to their industry. On uneasy terms with all other FPS governments

Jupitrons: term for citizens of Jupiter and its encorporated areas

Mars: a trade hub in the FPS, and a mining consortium rival to that of Jupiter, it is often at odds with Jupiter but is closely knit to Earth. Capital- Areopilis

Martian: citizen of Mars and its encorporated planetoids

Martian People's Republic: Socialist in nature with the government controling most recources, communication, transportation, health care/insurence, housing, ect. The people are often suportive of their government's actions and are ever wary of Jupiter

Mass Driver: a type of AG device that fires things from a planet's surface into orbit, a cheaper but more dangerous version of the Repulsovator

Matter forging plant: this is a large peice of equipment that is used to reverse E=MC2, which is to say that it converts energy into matter. This requires a great deal of power to produce even a straight lump of a single element, so many are used in conjunction with other industrial equipment to produce a finished product such as spare engine parts, shield relays, or missiles. They are commonly found on large space stations and capital ships where they are the fall back resource for material that cannot be had in a simpler method, such as mining asteroids

Mech: a robotic suit that has a given number of arms and legs (sometimes tails) which is used in war for combat (as the modern version of the tank) or in peace for heavy lifting and construction. Piloting is reletively difficult to control in comparison to fighters and bombers, but they have much longer combat effectiveness rates

Moleclear cutters (molec cutters): these are modified from the spacial mingi tool of the same name, these use a beam of energy that causes moleclear bonds to seperate. while the range of the cutter is very short (0.001 meters to 20 meters) there is no resistance to it, except with electro-magnetic shields.

Missiles: these are weapons fired by magnetism, but also equiped with their own guidance systems and ion engines. They come in armor-peircing, high-explosive, incendiary, anti-personelle, and anti-armor.

  • Armor-Peircing (AP): Armor peircing rounds have a pre-detonator that fires a ball of plasma into the target right befor hitting, this softens the armor up for the vibro-tipped round that follows. AP is excellent against mechs, most avatars, and hardened positions such as armored bunkers and pre-fabricated garrisons
  • High-Explosive (HE): These rounds detonate a concusion warhead, which releases numerous shockwaves that act like the three kinds of shock wave felt in an earth quake, this has the effect of shaking the target to peices. HE missiles are often vibro-tipped but sometimes are plasma tipped
  • Incendiary (Napalm or Nape): These rounds detonate and release a 10,000 rem microwave burst (700 rems is fatal) as well as releasing a 25 meter diameter splash of plasma. This is effective against all non-artillery mechs, but the difficulty in assembling these weapons makes them very hard to come by
  • Anti-Personelle (APe): These missiles detonate 5 meters above the ground and spray a 30 meter area with Neo-Steel ball berrings, like a Bouncing Betty Mine. The projectiles travel at about 3000 meters per second and shred through the unarmored like a .44 through a kleenex. Battle armor can reduce the effectiveness of these weapons, but not by much
  • Anti-Armor (AAr): These denonate above their targets too, but they release golf ball sized plasma grenades that often get into the joints in mechs and avatars and cause enough damage to stop a mech from being able to move, though rarely the full destruction of a mech
  • Neo-Steel: steel alloy that is compressed and heated with magnetism until the molocules align themselves perfectly, as with diamonds. it is a very hard material with great structural strength and resiliancy, high energy reflectivity, and high specific heat.

Neo-Titanium: a titanium chrystle similar in manufacture to Neo-Steel, but with a lighter weight and stronger composition. much thinner sheets achieve the same durability. Neo-Titanium is far less commonly used as it takes more time, energy, and money to produce

Neo-Uranium: Also made in a similar way to Neo-steel, Neo Uranium is nearly invincible, but also nearly impossible to make. 9 out of every 10 batches is a failure, as it takes two days to produce one metric ton of it and even slight variations in power or pressure can ruin an entire batch. This is used in very few buildings and only sections of capital ships, it is far too valuable to be put into anything that is likely to fall into enemy hands. To date only Earth has successfully produced it, but it is rumored that Jupite is making successful strides towards making their own

Pluto: a scientific outpost and primary Earth Spacial Police station and Jump platform. Pluto is very important to the trade of ungoing scientific evoltion of the FPS. Center of Military government is Hades Station.

PPC or Particle Projection cannon: a low fire rate and powerful weapon that uses magnetism to fire ultra fine high density metalic dust at a target. This dust erodes the target away with frightening speed, however PPC's are nearly ineffectual if the beam is moved so the target must be stationary or slow moving. When fired in atmosphere, the friction of the particles causes the generation of plasma within a certain radius around the beam, the plasma in turn often causes fire storms in areas where their are proximal flamables, these weapons can devestate cities, islands, or space stations with startling ease. Few PPCs are around. They could be made smaller, but it is unpractical as heat-sinc technology, though advanced enough for PPGs is still not advanced to the point where they can be attached to mechs, and it is impractical anyway, as mechs have other weapons available that do the same job about as well (rail guns, molec cutters)

PPG or Phased Plasma gun: fires a ball or "bolt" of superheated, ultra condesned gas which cuts through most metal. an aura around the PPG extending from 1 to 20 meters is the area in which significant heat damage will be suffered. Impacts of PPG's on flesh alway cause at least partial vaporization and impacts of PPGs on metals and silicates often cause violent expansions of matter which cause great damage and the bolts can peirce through several layers or meters of armor/rocks/silicates

Rail Gun: A type of hyper-velocity gun that fires a slug of metal (ussually solid, but can be quiped with a warhead) at much greater speeds than normal HV guns, but at a drastically reduced rate of fire. These are ussually larger calibre weapons too, often around 30 to 42 centimeters in diameter

Repulsors: rudamentary anti-gravity devices that repulse themselves from a givin center of gravity at a modular rate.

Repulsovators: enormous elevator like platforms monopolized by Earth for the use of transporting equipment, personelle, ect, from the surface of a planet into orbit.

Saturn class defence station: These are defensive space stations with their center as their primary power plants, and main ball containing mostly their docking bays, missile batteries, matter forging plants, crew quarters and so forth. The "rings" surounding the central ball hold the PPGs, PPCs, and most of the non-projectile weapons. These stations have an enormous and well known ability to take punishment and return it ten fold, a tight network of such defences is very hard to crack and normally requires several days to down enough of them to get an invasion coridor.

Shields: electro-magnetic fields produced by shield generators. These have the effect of slowing or stopping magneticlaly propelled ammuniton or particles and molec cutter. they also drastically reduce the power of plasma weapons and bolster the armor in the face of all such weapons. Some proto-types have been developed by Lunar Scientists that completely deflect energy and objects hurled at them, although they only last for half an hour before they need to recharge. These proto-types are in Earth's sole posetion

Sphere: Term used to refer to anything within a planetary orbit, and within the orbits of its satalites. for example, the moon is within Earth's sphere, and is therefore part of the Earth Sphere

Vega: only one of two major outer sector colonies. semi-agrarian, with reasonable tourism and industry, some mining, but primarily a stellar obsrvatory and scientific research station. benign scientific and industrial rivelry with Alpha Centauri. capital Vagianople

Vibro-blade: a moleclear blade that is kept sharp and intact by a powerful magnetic field. The blade is jostled by a vibro-generator which adds to the cleaving power. The vibro-blade is effective against most materials but has some difficulty against chrystiline structures such as the steel chrystle armor of basic mechs and avatars
