A Conversation for Hitchhiker Slang

Good work !
This made me grin and set me off trying to recall other slang from H2G2. I've had a couple of glasses of wine (an excellent Chauteau Janx '99) and all I could remember was Zaphod in the Restaurant at the End of the Universe asking the waiter for a 'phone :
"Hand me the rap-rod, Plate Captain"
Also ... was "swud/swudding" a galactic expletive ?
Cheers
John

Ah ! Douglas Noel Adams ... name rings a bell ...
The rap-rod bit is from the Restuarant at the End of the Universe when Marvin's trying to get hold of the rest of the mob of the 'phone.
The other word I was looking for was "swut". I think Zaphod uses this when he's dangling from the giant statue of Arthur Dent ... at the same sort of time that he uses THAT B-word.
Other rude words are joojooflop (mentioned by The Book) & turlingdrome (used by the Vogon captain in his poetry)

thanks, you really are working hard for this! I really appreciate it. I'll update later today, I just got on holiday. Another bit, 'cos my memory is as bad as a babelfish, I recognize joojooflop and turlingdrome, but about the other few, are those from the books or the tv shows, or the radio? I have only read the books as of yet, I just got Salmon of Doubt, and I'm getting the TV series DVD for christmas. Thanks!

As in "This is one whole joojooflop situation"

swut, joojooflop & turlingdrome are used in the radio series as well.
belgium replaced the word f*ck in america as it was unprintable alledgedly.
Slartibartfast was a swear word as well, originally or a lot of them. douglas wanted the dirtiest name he come come up with and still get it broadcast over the radio. it was supposed to have been farty f*ck balls. the joke "my name is not important" was douglas having fun at a secretaries expense, he held back saying the word slartibartfast as long as possible as he knew it would take her ages typing it in scripts.
