A Conversation for Venus Fly Traps

I used to have one - but it pined and died (probably not for the fjords, though).
Any idea why dead (even freshly squished) meals don't do the trick?

Sorry I took so long to get back to you on this. The VFT has a clever trick, if the prey isn't still moving when the trap closes it gives up and opens again. This is 'cos thigs like heavy rain and things falling on it can trigger a trap - and they don't make too good a meal. Oh yeah, as I found out, you can over-water a VFT, mine's roots began to rot, but I saved it in time.
Hope this helps anyone,
Omega
