Hi crazyhorse. 
If you read the introductory page A2083844 about the 'Fire' project you will see that all the entries are based on the Billy Joel song (which adds up to 119 pieces) and are centred around the year in which they are mentioned. We were asked to write fairly short entries and keep mostly to the relevant year - although in some cases this was rather tricky to do.
I am sure that, if you suggested it in Challenge h2g2 - A1293365, a more thorough piece about Thalidomide and its far-reaching effects could be written. Perhaps you would like to write one yourself?
