Task Force Police- does anyone remember it?

I don't know whether this was the original title of the series,I think it was a BBC-series; must have been in the seventies when we watched it in Germany. I don't remember much of it, only that we watched it regularly because it was so very different to the German police series, with great characters and convincing stories

I think that would have been 'Softly Softly, Task Force', which was itself a spin off from the highly successful 'Z Cars'. 
Both of them were escellent television.

One of my golden oldies - remember Brian Blessed making what seemed like his TV debut in Z Cars?
Stratford Johns as Barlow & Frank Windsor as his sidekick (name escapes me) made a great team.
Now I think of it, some similarities to Dalziel & Pascoe?

Indeed, Brian Blessed as PC Snow the dog handler. And the excellent Brian Ellis as the sarge.

PC Snow rings a bell-but it's really a very long time ago
More recent series was "Fitz", with Robbie Coltrane working for the police as a psychologist,great stuff too, watched it although they broadcasted it very late in the night
-it's only the stupid American tv-series in the early evenings
